Our Wills Service

Certified Quality

We are accredited with the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) by the Law Society which is the recognised quality mark for legal experts in drafting Wills and administering Estates. We follow best practice procedures and meet the highest standards of technical expertise and client service.

Wills

We consider a Will to be one of the most important documents you will ever need to make, and it is never too early to make a Will.  Making a Will gives you the opportunity to:-

  1. Choose precisely how your assets will be distributed after your death.
  2. Appoint someone you trust to handle your affairs after your death.
  3. Minimise the tax liabilities.
  4. Appoint Guardians to look after your children if they are under 18.
  5. Create Trusts to preserve assets or protect the interests of vulnerable Beneficiaries.
  6. Avoid potential disputes.

If you do not have a Will, there is a term called “The Rules of Intestacy” and it will decide how your estate is to be distributed.  A poorly drafted Will can also cause complexities and stress for your loved ones at what will already be a difficult time.

Using our Will service could reduce concerns at a sensitive time.

Protected Property Trust

Skilful use of this Trust in Wills for married couples in conjunction with advice on the family home may protect your share in the family home in the event of the survivor going into a Residential Nursing Home.

Tax Planning

If as a single person you are worth more than £325,000 or as a married couple more than £650,000 then Inheritance Tax could be an issue for you and tax efficient wills and/or lifetime gifts may save tax.

Advance Directives

No-one knows what may be around the corner. In the worst scenario an Advance Directive will allow your say about the medical treatments you receive.

We charge an inital consultation fee of £150 plus VAT at 20% of £30 totalling £180. For a straightforward single Will, we charge a fixed fee of £350  plus VAT at 20% of £70 totalling £420.  For straightforward mirror Wills for couples we charge a fixed fee of £500 plus VAT at 20% of £100 totalling £600. If, however your Will instructions or circumstances are not straightforward further charges will apply which will be agreed with you at the consultation before we commence work.
